The Slightly Intimidating Side of Womens GAA in County Mayo

These two birds

that I used to know

They came to Dublin

from Maigh Eo

 .

Red-tipped claws

and voices like saws

were as hard as nails

and could bend gaurd rails

.

They could fight

bears with bare hands

Dry rivers with thirst

Spit fire and worse

.

Would I call them womanly?

Yes, Amazonian probably

but feminine never,

though, to say it aloud

just wouldn’t be clever!

……………………………………………..

I actually miss those two loopers, I wonder where they are now-either prison, dead or Mayo. Speaking of which, can’t wait until the Oireachtas
